Jurong Bird Park

September 5, 2011

One of our favourite places to visit in Singapore is Jurong Bird Park,  we’ve been there 4 times now and it never gets   old. I guess being bird  people makes a difference but there’s something quite stunning about  seeing these spectacular  creatures up close and personal. The colours,  the beauty, the variety are amazing and since we both love taking  photos, we spend a great deal of time trying to get just the right shot.

The park itself is really well kept, it’s pristine and the gardens are well  tended, the birds are the number one priority and  it shows.

We saw Aussie cockatoos, stunning blue and yellow parrots and vivid  red macaws, flamingos, pelicans, lorikeets,  swans and a host of other birds and the flowers and gardens were just gorgeous.

I won’t say more as I’d rather just share a few photos instead.

What do you mean you can't take me seriously!!!

Winging Our Way To The UK Via Singapore

September 4, 2011

We flew out of Brisbane on Monday 29 August at 2:30pm and headed for Singapore where we’ll have 3 days to catch our breath and adjust to the time change and get over the long flight. Air travel can be quite tough on the body.

Normally I cope well with the flying but I hurt my back the day before we flew out doing housework and I’ve   been in agony every since.

I was relieved beyond measure when we finally touched down in Singapore and made it to our hotel room   where I had a nice hot shower.

We’ve stayed at this same hotel about 3 times now, it’s quite an old hotel and cheaper than most but I have to say that I think it might be nice to stay elsewhere should we come back through Singapore in the future.

The rooms are ok, but I’ve noticed just how hard the beds are this time around (I guess a bad back will do that to you) and the bathrooms and decor are a bit sad.

We’ve been getting in plenty of walking, something we’ve been doing for quite a while now and something we both enjoy, but it can be draining when there’s so much humidity. It’s not necessarily ‘hot’ but the humidity here is around 90% because it’s so tropical and they’re in the middle of their Continued…

Leaving’ On A Jet Plane

August 28, 2011

Well, it’s only a few hours until we jump onto our aircraft and leave the glorious Land of Oz behind us for a month. We’re heading to the UK via Singapore and we’re looking forward to catching up with family from both Ian’s and my families and we’re also going to be part of UCB Int. business as well.

We’ll have 3 days in Singapore to start with to break the trip, it’s a seriously long way to the UK and you need the break just to help deal with the jet lag and the stress on the body.

Speaking of stress to the body, while doing a load of housework yesterday I’ve hurt my lower back and I’ve been in agony ever since, so really praying I can be comfortable enough once I’m on the aircraft. I had hoped that a good night’s sleep would have fixed the problem but I’m in the same amount of pain now as I was yesterday.

Still, am trusting the Lord to sustain me regardless of the pain and discomfort.

We’re planning on a day at the Jurong Bird Park in Singapore, it’s our most favourite place to visit Continued…
